Schedule an Appointment

Q: How long of a session should I schedule?

A: This depends on your specific treatment needs, goals, and body type. Generally speaking, a half hour appointment would be considered a “spot treatment” and is good if you want to focus on one particular problem area. For a full body massage, it is best to schedule between 60 and 90 minutes. Ashiatsu is a slower, deeper modality and requires at least 90 minutes to treat the full body.

Q: How often should I get a massage?

A: Again, this depends on your particular needs and goals. If you want to focus on a problem area, it is generally recommended that you come in more often until the problem alleviates, then taper down to a maintenance schedule. Many people do well with a once-a-month maintenance massage, however, you may want to come in more or less often depending on your needs.

Q: Do I have to get completely undressed?

A: Your level of undress is entirely up to you. Many people completely undress, but others decide to leave their undergarments on. Either way is perfectly acceptable. You will remain covered under a sheet with only the area being worked on exposed during the session.

Q: Should I talk or be quiet during my massage?

A: You are welcome to be as talkative or as quiet as you like during your session, your therapist will follow your lead.

Q: How will I feel after my session?

A: This will vary from person to person and will depend on the type of work you receive. Many people feel relaxed with an increase in comfort and range of motion. Some people may feel a little sore or tender for a day or two, particularly after receiving deep, focused work. Drinking plenty of water after your session can help reduce these effects.

Q: I've fallen ill, should I still come to my appointment?

A: If you are fevered, think you may be contagious, or have any contagious skin ailments (such as poison ivy), please call to reschedule your appointment. We understand that these things happen. You will not be charged the cancellation fee if you must reschedule within the 24 hour window for this reason.

Q: I have specific health concerns. Is massage safe for me?

A: Massage is safe for most people. On your initial visit, your therapist will review your health history and address your specific concerns and needs. It is important that you disclose any health issues so that your therapist can adapt the massage appropriately. It is also important to inform your therapist if you have any health changes after your initial intake.

Q: I didn't shave!

A: Your therapist doesn't care, I promise.

Q: Should I tip?

A: Tipping is always appreciated.
